Back At It

I have been TERRIBLE at blogging lately. The past 6 to 8 weeks have been so chaotic and busy! We are still trying to get settled into the new house and then preparing for the holidays has just added more to our full plates.

I had a WONDERFUL birthday thanks to my fabulous husband. He took me out to dinner and a movie and we were able to spend quality time together. He also got me a new camera, which I LOVE!!!!!!

here are a few new pics of Casey:

Just the Two of Us

1. What are your middle names? Nicole and Lane
2. How long have you been together? We started dating 7 years ago this December. We have been married 3 as of this past August.

3. How long did you know each other before you started dating? Not very long... We started working together in late October... Started hanging out around Thanksgiving and really started dating right around the New Year.

4. Who asked who out? No one really...Greg knew I was interested... but he did the chasing :)
5. How old are each of you? I about to be 29 (gasp) and Greg just turned 27
6. Did you go to the same school? We both went to UK. He was finishing his undergrad the year I was in grad school.

7. Are you from the same home town? We both have moved a LOT. So no. But we both consider ourselves from Kentucky.

8. Who is the smartest? Mainly Greg. I am more knowledgeable on anything social work related :)

9. Who majored in what? I have a Bachelor's and Masters's in Social Work. Greg has a Bachelor's in Business Management.

10. Who is the most sensitive? Probably me.

11. Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple? Probably NM for my sisters wedding.

12. Who has the worst temper? Neither one of us have bad tempers.... I am definitely very feisty though..... Greg does not like confrontation. Though he has gotten more assertive throughout the years :)

13. How many children do you want? It depends. On a day when Casey is behaving I want 10. On a day when he's rotten I am good with one :)

14. Who does the cooking? Mainly Kristin. But usually whoever gets home first at night makes dinner.

15. Who is more social? Definitely me. Greg is a lot of fun once hes around people. But hes totally content staying home more, watching movies and hanging out. I am always looking for something to do :)

16. Who is the neat freak? Me. Hands Down.

17. Who is the most stubborn? Me. Hands Down. Again.

18. Who wakes up earlier? We're usually up at the same time.

19. Where was your first date? We aren't really sure. We think O'Charley's. But we also went to Chili's once (accompanied by my roomate).

20. Who has the bigger family? Greg has the bigger family.... but my family has more little kids now.

21. Do you get flowers often? What is your definition of often?

22. How do you spend the holidays? We have been trying in recent years to run around less during the holidays. We both work a lot and end up exhausted if we drive the entire time. Luckily both of our families are great about being flexible and not making us feel like we have to be a certain place on a certain day and time. Our families are fine with celebrating Christmas on a random day if need be due to work schedules.

23. Who is more jealous? Neither of us

24. How long did it take to get serious? Pretty much right away. Though Greg would not readily admit this. But I couldn't get rid of him pretty much from the start :)

25. Who eats more? Probably Greg.

26. What do you do for a living? Greg works for T-Mobile. He has been there 5 years. I am a Care Coordinator for kids and families.

27. Who does the laundry? Both of us. I am a lucky girl!

28. Who's better with the computer? Greg is.

29. Who drives when you are together? Usually Greg. Because he thinks I drive crazy sometimes and he gets carsick sometimes.

30. What is your song? We have two. Desperado by the Eagles. And Bless the Broken Road.

Busy Busy

I have not been blogging like I had hoped. It seems like the days have been so short. We continue to settle into the new house and are continually changing something, coming up with a new idea or sorting something. We have been eating in and cooking almost every night. When we were in the apartment we got used to eating out all the time because the kitchen was shoe box size. Its nice feeling "normal" again. Casey is sleeping like a champ again now that hes adjusted to the new house and getting cuter every day. He's repeating EVERYTHING we say. My current favorite is when we're in the car and he randomly says "Hi Mama." I usually say "Hi Casey" back. Sometimes though, I'll answer and say "Hi Sweet Pea" (which is what I call him). Lately when I saw that he says "Hi Sweet Pea" back. It melts my heart. He's growing and changing so much. G and I find ourselves frequently shaking our heads, staring at him in amazement or just outright laughing. Never a dull moment. Here are a few pics:

Settling In

There have been a lot of changes around here since the last post. Most importantly, we closed on our new home and have moved in. All went well with the closing and moving though its been very hectic. We are now officially totally out of our apartment and have been working really hard to get the house in order. K has been painting each weekend and G has been amazing with unpacking and arranging. We are so blessed to have had the help of our family the past few weeks with picking up furniture, moving furniture, watching Casey for us and helping put our furniture together. We are very lucky! It feels wonderful to have more space again, feel organized and have a place to "hang out."

I will post pictures soon of the new place.

Until then----

Changes

Fall is here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so excited that fall is finally here! It's my absolute favorite season and I cannot wait for beautiful weather, hoodies, pumpkin patches and blankets. While all the leaves are changing, there are many changes occurring at our house as well. Earlier this weekend we celebrated G's birthday. We had a yummy dinner at Mitchell's Fish Market and I made him a cake. Happy Birthday sweetie!

In less than a week we close on our new home that we have been building since June. Time has seemed to go by both really slow and really fast all at the same time. We are in full packing and planning mode. I have had bronchitis this weekend so have been of little worth to anyone. Luckily my amazing husband has taken care of our lil guy and worked on packing boxes. I am excited for more space in our new home, but mostly I am excited to help it feel "homelike" since we have never felt that in our current apartment.

Below is a picture of G's birthday cake:

Thankful

I am giving blogging yet another try. I am determined this time not to slack off and forget to post things that are going on in my head and in my life.

The title of this post is "Thankful" because I used one of my all-time favorite songs when coming up with the new blog address. I started listening to Caedmon's Call back in high school and this song is still one that I listen to if I am having a hard day, need to be uplifted, or need a gentle reminder. Here is my current list of just a few things I am thankful for.

-a hard working and patient husband
-an energetic and adorable son
-the new warranty for the tires on my car (after having 3, yes 3, tires yesterday that ended up with nails in them after driving to my soon-to-be new house)
-the new house we are currently building
-the gorgeous, soon to be fall, weather that will allow me to break out hoodies
-playgrounds
-car rides with the windows down
-caramel frappe's from mcdonald's that my mother-in-law warned me about trying!
-my son's active and caring grandparents

For those of you who have never heard the song "Thankful".. Take a listen. Here are the lyrics:)

I ran across an old box of letters
While I was bagging up some clothes for Goodwill
You Know I had to laugh that the same old struggles
That plagued me then are plauging me still
I know the road is long from the ground to glory
But a boy can hope he's getting some place
But you see, I'm running from the very clothes I'm wearing
And dressed like this I'm fit for the chase

No, there is none righteous
Not one who understands
There is none who seek God
No not one, no not one

I am thankful that I'm incapable
Of doing any good on my own

'Cause we're all stillborn and dead in our transgressions
We're shackled up to the sin we hold so dear
So what part can I play in the work of redemption
I can't refuse, I cannot add a thing

'Cause I am just like Lazarus and I can hear your voice
I stand and rub my eyes and walk to You
Because I have no choice

I am thankful that I'm incapable
Of doing any good on my own
I'm so thankful that I'm incapable
Of doing any good on my own

It's by grace I have been saved
Trhough faith that's not my own
It is the gift of God and not by works
Lest anyone should boast

Until Next Time~K
